THE Vedic civilization has long been known for their important and invaluable contributions to knowledge. But for keeping track of time, they are best known for the art of JYOTISH. A system based on the movement of the celestial bodies across the 12 zodiac signs, or the 27 constellations otherwise known as Lunar mansions. Science has yet to catch up with astrology for various reasons, but none most worthy than the fact Gravity alone as not yet been discovered as an a physical entity or particle, otherwise theorized to be the Graviton. And since this is the Force explained by the Ancients by the term Graha (which means that which pulls), than it makes it difficult explain the qualities of the the exact effects of the planets. And although we can appreciate the reality of gravity just like we can astrology, science still cannot pinpoint where this influence is exactly. In this same way, we do not have the tools to pinpoint the subtle influences of the stars, but they are surely built into the very fabric of our experience, no doubt even our genetics.
Throughout history mankind has watched the stars and have gathered much experience and very complicated systems of tracking the heavens that have reached tremendous complexity. From early on Mankind became aware of the largest of astronomical cycles, the Precession of the Equinox, which is the slow wobble of the earth that take 24,000 years to complete. This is a fact modern astronomers we have only learned about within the past few hundred years, but ancient cultures were more aware of astronomical events than we think. And throughout their observations, they developed a profound system of prediction based on the influences of the sky and the bodies circling within our solar system, as well as deep understanding behind the influences of the constellations themselves.
The Vedic culture, otherwise known as India today, still uses their astrology and considers it a science for us in many areas of life including politics, for arranging marriages, and for planning important events so they are supported by these heavenly influences and yield maximum results. It is a system for finding the times of events even in ones life, and thus for helping people understand their own destiny, strengths and weaknesses based the influences at the time of birth. Just think about this; if you place two rice kernals on opposite sides of the Universe they will eventually attract one another (assuming there is nothing else in our hypothetical universe), and though they will pass one another multiples times, eon after eon, they will eventually meet and bond based on their individual characteristics, and become something more complex and unique. Whole Galaxies are formed like this. After the Big BANG matter was mostly hydrogen and dissipated across the Universe. And everything you see is just because of the slow progression of time and gravitational attraction, where great periods of friction have churned and molded matter into its many forms (the table of elements) only to throw it back out so it can eventually take shape with everything else around it into something else.
Matter attracted becomes Planets, or it becomes Suns, others Moons, even Black Holes. But here is the clincher- HOW they have formed is based on the individual gravitational characteristics of the matter itself. So you can say Matter does voluntarily form into all the intelligent systems we see today, from solar systems to planets, to life forms to nature and now Humankind. Knowing this we can begin to appreciate just how closely we are related to the delicate system of spinning masses we call our Solar System. Each and everyone is interconnected with everything else in a stream of a delicate balance of gravitational mutuality that Matter inspires. And as a result we can experience everything as One unit, interconnected with all. This is what makes it possible to exist simultaneously amidst so much complexity. The Universe can thus be found in the drop, the solar system is in each one of us, and once you learn how you will wonder how you never noticed this whole time.
Now there are certain astrologers who have mastered the planetary influences through the intellect, some through the heart, and whatever system they use is of no consequence in as much as their predictive ability.
